The path is clear! : My Actifit Report Card: August 3 2026

28 miles of bliss! 😁

I left the home at 07.30 hrs this morning for a ride before the heat of the afternoon. Today was forecast to be the hottest day of the current heatwave, so getting out early was essential.

My main photo actually shows one of the farm fields where the path tracks across the middle. It was hot and midday, at this point and near to home at the end of the ride.

The second photo is at the very beginning of the ride and much cooler.

My plan was to cycle through Glovers wood, but I chose the wrong entrance initially and had to backtrack to find the other entrance a little further down the road. A deep gill system was the problem and locating the footbridge across.

Onward through some beautiful countryside, passing lakes, across bridges, but also negotiating some brutal overgrown tracks with brambles and nettles everywhere. 😮

I stopped at the bridge over the railway to watch three red kites circling overhead. It looked like two adults with their white head feathers and one smaller, probably an offspring. They were flying low, so I got a really good look.

I almost missed this concealed entrance to the next bridalway. It was nice and cool through there under the trees for a while.

I was exploring some new tracks today but that can be hazardous as you don't have any idea how well-used they are. Also at this time of year the undergrowth is thick and fully grown, blocking some of the paths completely. I managed to get through but I was severely delayed at some points, having to clear a path or even carry the bike to avoid puncturing the tyres on thorns. 😂

It has to be said, I wont be revisiting some of the tracks I passed through today! 😕

It was another great ride in near perfect conditions. I hope I can get in a few more of these dry rides before the weather finally breaks.
