Have you ever wondered why we fill ourselves with flowers and chocolates every February 14? February 14th is a global holiday, but every corner of the world has its own magic. While in the United States and Europe the focus is almost always on romantic couples with dinners and roses, in Venezuela and throughout Latin America we add our own warmth. Here, we leave no one out: we celebrate with equal fervor our love for our children, our family, and those friends who are like siblings to us. From the famous gift exchanges to the simplest of gestures, Latinos turn this day into a celebration of collective affection that unites us all.
Let's talk 📜 A little bit of the history of Valentine's Day (The rebel of love)
Although it's all about romance, the origin of Valentine's Day is quite warlike. In third-century Rome, Emperor Claudius II decided to ban marriages for young people; he believed that single men, without family ties, were much more efficient and fierce soldiers.
But a priest named Valentine appeared, who considered this law to be a total injustice against the purest of feelings. In secret, defying the empire, he married lovers. For that act of courage and rebellion, he was executed on February 14. Thus was born the legend of the patron saint of lovers.

However, to love others as Valentín did, you first have to shield your own heart. That's why today I'm sharing this guide that is essential to me.

¿Alguna vez te has preguntado por qué nos llenamos de flores y chocolates cada 14 de febrero?.El 14 de febrero es una fiesta mundial, pero cada rincón tiene su magia. Mientras que en Estados Unidos y Europa el enfoque es casi siempre el romance de pareja con cenas y rosas, en Venezuela y toda Latinoamérica le ponemos nuestro propio calor. Aquí no dejamos a nadie por fuera: celebramos con la misma fuerza el amor por nuestros hijos, la familia y esos amigos que son hermanos de vida. Desde los famosos intercambios de regalos hasta el "detallito" más sencillo, los latinos convertimos este día en una celebración de afecto colectivo que nos une a todos.
Hablemos 📜 Un poco de la historia del Día de San Valentín, (El rebelde del amor)
Aunque todo es romance, el origen de San Valentín es bastante guerrero. En la Roma del siglo III, el emperador Claudio II decidió prohibir los matrimonios para los jóvenes; él creía que los solteros, sin ataduras familiares, eran soldados mucho más eficientes y feroces.
Pero apareció un sacerdote llamado Valentín, quien consideró que esta ley era una injusticia total contra el sentimiento más puro. En secreto, desafiando al imperio, casaba a los enamorados. Por ese acto de valentía y rebeldía, fue ejecutado un 14 de febrero. Así nació la leyenda del patrón de los enamorados.
