Tracking Down the Fault: New MAP Sensor, Battery, and Terminals

There have already been many attempts to fix the problem with my vehicle; I still haven't managed to start it. Among the latest things I did was make some purchases to ensure that everything works well and every little detail is covered while I continue with the search and diagnosis of the fault.

Ya han sido muchos los intentos por solventar la falla de mi vehículo, aún no logro encenderlo. Entre las últimas cosas que hice, fue una compras para garantizar que todo funcione bien y lo más mínimo este cubierto mientras continuo con la búsqueda y diagnóstico de la falla.

I mentioned it in previous posts: one of the most important purchases was the MAP sensor. What I didn't mention was that it was indeed a successful purchase, since I could compare the measurements a sensor in good condition should have with the two I have, both of which are bad. Another detail I didn't mention is that this part is not only the MAP sensor, it's also the IAT, so its correct operation is super important.

Lo mencioné en publicaciones anteriores, una de las compras más importantes fue en sensor MAP. Lo que no mencioné fue que efectivamente fue una compra acertada, ya que puede comparar las mediciones que debe tener un sensor en buen estado, con los dos que tengo, los cuales ambos están malos. Otro detalles que no mencioné es que está pieza no solo es el sensor MAP, también es el IAT, así que es súper importante su correcto funcionamiento.

It was a source of great joy to get this purchase right and know that it was necessary to replace this part; however, it wasn't enough to start the vehicle. This led me to perform an extended check on all the sensors, as I've explained before. To do this job properly, I bought a battery—by the way, at a very good price, which surprised me, since it's from the Velko brand, which I understand is American, and it comes with a 12-month warranty.

Fue un motivo de mucha alegría acertar con esta compra y saber que era necesario reemplazar esta pieza, sin embargo, no fue suficiente como para encender el vehículo. Este me llevo a realizar un chequeo extendido hacia todos los sensores como ya he explicado antes. Para hacer este trabajo correctamente compre la batería, por cierto a un muy buen precio, cosa que me sorprendió, ya que es de la marca Velko que tengo entendido es americana, y tiene 12 meses de garantía.

Buying a new battery without changing its cable terminals is not doing the complete job. As you can observe, it was urgent to make the change, since the old ones wouldn't tighten, and they were quite worn out and battered by years of use. Ensuring good electrical condition is paramount, even more so when dealing with an electrical fault. Having 12 volts across all sensors is vital; a voltage drop does not guarantee proper functioning.

Comprar una batería nueva y no cambiar los terminales de sus cables, es no hacer el trabajo completo. Cómo podrán observar, era urgente hacer el cambio, ya que los viejos no ajustaban, estan bastante desgastados y maltratados por los años de uso. Garantizar una buena condición eléctrica es primordial, más aún si se trata de una falla eléctrica. Tener 12 voltios en todos los sensores es vital, una caída de tensión no garantiza un buen funcionamiento.

For now, these purchases are just small steps toward finding the fault. I hope the next post brings good news, since I've been working on finding it for over a month. Right now I have a good lead, after a lot of research and reviewing the workshop manual, but I won't know for sure until I make several adjustments.

Por ahora estás compras solo son pequeños pasos para encontrar la falla. Espero que la próxima publicación tenga buenas noticias, ya que es más de un mes que tengo trabajando en encontrarla. Por ahora tengo un buen indicio, tras mucha investigación y repaso del manual de taller, pero no lo sabré hasta hacer varios ajustes.
