Hoy, quiero enseñarles esta ilustración que realicé casualmente ayer en la noche (cof cof, trasnocho, sí).
Today, I want to show you this illustration that I casually made last night (cof cof cof, late night, yes).
Es un tanto surrealista la forma en la que plasmé los conceptos que he querido tratar en esta ilustración, más que nada mi intención fue representar casos de la actualidad lastimosamente muy comunes en adolescentes. En específico, la baja autoestima y lo muy dañino que se ha vuelto para muchos la opinión de los demás, incluyendo los estereotipos o la insuficiencia sentimental que podemos desarrollar a lo largo del tiempo.
It is somewhat surreal the way in which I captured the concepts that I wanted to deal with in this illustration, more than anything my intention was to represent cases of the present unfortunately very common in adolescents. Specifically, low self-esteem and how harmful the opinion of others has become for many, including stereotypes or sentimental inadequacy that we can develop over time.
Como de costumbre realicé todo el boceto. Para la pose, me inspiré en una imagen de pinterest que me había salido en el inicio. De allí surgieron los demás conceptos para esta ilustración.
As usual I did the whole sketch. For the pose, I was inspired by a pinterest image that I had found at the beginning. From there came the other concepts for this illustration.
The faces reflected behind the girl's mirror represent those negative thoughts about herself. Mockery of her physique, criticism and even within this list, there are the typical thoughts of "what will they think of me", "will I be beautiful enough", "I need to change". Insecurities that are closely related to beauty stereotypes, among other things.
Los rostros reflejados detrás del espejo de la chica, representan aquellos pensamientos negativos de sí misma. Burlas de su físico, críticas e incluso dentro de toda esta lista, caben los típicos pensamientos de "¿qué pensarán de mí?", "¿seré lo suficientemente hermosa?", "necesito cambiar". Inseguridades que están estrechamente relacionadas con estereotipos de belleza, entre otras cosas.
Para el coloreo coloqué el área gris en donde centraré los colores base para la piel, ojos, cabello y ropa.
For the coloring I placed the gray area where I will center the base colors for the skin, eyes, hair and clothes.
Para las sombras de la piel usé un tono rojizo oscuro, ya que el ambiente principal es más gris que saturado. Así, fui armando y sombreando poco a poco el personaje con colores fríos, claro, tomando muy en cuenta que los colores no perdieran viveza.
For the skin shadows I used a dark reddish tone, since the main environment is more gray than saturated. So, I gradually built up and shaded the character with cold colors, of course, taking into account that the colors did not lose their vividness.
Con los colores principales listos, puedo empezar a editar más a mi comodidad cómo quiero que sea la tonalidad del dibujo e incluir los colores del personaje al fondo.
With the main colors ready, I can start to edit more to my comfort how I want the tonality of the drawing to be and include the colors of the character in the background.
Estructuré los colores del espejo al igual que para los rostros de fondo. Elegí un tono un poco más claro al de la pared y les di profundidad a las expresiones. Por otro lado, también agregué parte de la cabeza de la chica desde un punto de vista trasero, dando así un efecto más realista del espejo.
I structured the colors of the mirror as I did for the background faces. I chose a tone a little lighter than the wall and gave depth to the expressions. On the other hand, I also added part of the girl's head from a back point of view, giving a more realistic effect of the mirror.
Finally, in the layer where I had the faces I used a motion filter to blur them. I placed some glows in the parts exposed to the light, and in general the glows of the eyes, nose and hair.
Para finalizar, en la capa donde tenía los rostros utilicé un filtro de movimiento para desenfocarlas. Coloqué algunos brillos en las partes expuestas a la luz, y en general los brillos de los ojos, nariz y cabello.
As the illustration still seemed a bit empty to me, I liked the idea of adding some notes stuck to the mirror with writings that she makes for herself. Thanks to this, I improved a lot the impression of the reflection on the mirror, and the colors of each paper looked very good in the dark environment.
Como aún la ilustración me parecía un tanto vacía, me gustó la idea de agregarle algunas notas pegadas al espejo con escritos que ella hace para sí misma. Gracias a ello, mejoré mucho la ipresión de relfejo en el espejo, aparte que le quedaron muy bien los colores de cada papel al ambiente oscuro.
