Weight lost

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

I have never had to worry about losing weight, I have never gained any in the last 5 years. One day Michael (my friend) asked me,

Why is it that you don't add weight at all? You have been like this before we met"

I jokingly told him to remember Hebrews 13:8

"Jesus Christ is the same,yesterday,today and for ever"Well,weight loss is a serious concern to some people,and a lucrative business to some as well.

Excessive weight has a way of affecting people's confidence, psyche, self esteem and health. In our text, Apostle Paul was alluding to track race during the Bible days - to run fast and far in a race and ultimately in life, the lesson is, you need to run light.

The Greek word 'Ongkos' translated weight implies a few things:

Load, mass, burden, encumbrance, bulk, protuberance, hinderance.

Paul said we should deliberately, intentionally put them aside. Blind Bartimeaus laid aside his garment when Jesus called him. What is slowing you down? A hobby, pet sins, bitterness, pain, unforgiveness and any relationship that drains life out of you.

It may be an addiction or even a legitimate duty. Will you be willing to lay them at the foot of the cross?
