Hive Reader Mini v2.7.9 Update: Finally Supporting Standalone Article Links! 🔗🐝

As Hive Reader Mini continues to evolve, I’ve also found myself using it more and more frequently. And as usage scenarios expanded, some small issues that weren’t obvious before gradually started to surface.

With this v2.7.9 update, I finally addressed a feature that had been on my list for a long time—and one that several users had also mentioned:

Full article URL routing support.

It may sound like a small feature, but the improvement to the overall experience is surprisingly significant.

A Small Problem That Became Hard to Ignore

In previous versions, when you opened an article, the browser address bar didn’t actually change.

At first, it didn’t seem like a big deal. But as reading became more frequent, the limitations became increasingly noticeable.

❌ Unable to Bookmark Articles

Imagine finding an article you really like and wanting to save it for later.

You quickly realize there’s no standalone URL for the current article.

No direct way to bookmark it.

❌ Unable to Share Precisely

You come across a great post and want to send it to a friend:

"This article is really good — check it out."

Then you realize...

There’s no article link to copy.

You can only share the homepage instead of the specific content.

❌ Unable to Open Content Directly via Links

If someone sends you a Hive article link and you want to open it directly inside Hive Reader Mini:

Previously, this wasn’t possible.

Even refreshing the page would bring you back to the homepage, forcing you to search for the article again.

The experience simply wasn’t smooth.

To solve these issues once and for all, Hive Reader Mini v2.7.9 now introduces full article routing support.

🚀 Highlights of This Update

1. Standalone Article URLs Are Now Supported

Now, whenever you open an article:

The browser address bar automatically updates with the article's dedicated link.

This means:

✅ Bookmark articles directly
✅ Share links with friends effortlessly
✅ Refresh pages without losing your reading position
✅ Open external links directly

Now it truly becomes:

One link = One article

2. Support for Multiple URL Formats

To better integrate with common Hive ecosystem standards, this update supports two route formats:

Full format:

/category/@author/permlink

Simplified format:

/@author/permlink

No matter where the link comes from, Hive Reader Mini can recognize and handle it correctly.

✨ Smart URL Normalization

This is one of my favorite little details in this update.

When users visit:

/@author/permlink

After successfully loading article data, the system automatically converts it into:

/category/@author/permlink

This brings several benefits:

  • More consistent URLs
  • Better sharing experience
  • Alignment with Hive ecosystem standards
  • Familiar behavior matching existing frontends

Platforms like:

  • Hive.blog
  • PeakD
  • Ecency

already follow similar conventions.

By standardizing URLs, the entire ecosystem feels more seamless and intuitive.

3. Smarter and Smoother Back Navigation

This update also includes a rework of navigation behavior.

By integrating with the browser History API, the back experience becomes much more intelligent.

Whether using the top navigation button or the bottom action area:

If you navigated internally: You'll return to your previous reading list and scroll position.

If you entered through an external link:The system intelligently redirects you to a reasonable destination, such as the author's profile page or the app homepage.

The experience now feels much closer to a native app.

🙏 Thank You

Thank you all for your continued support ❤️

If you encounter any issues while using the new routing system—or have suggestions for future improvements—feel free to leave a comment.
