Work In Progress... ancora....
I worked a lot on this dress this week - it still wants major efforts to get it to completion, and so I'm using Needlework Monday to reflect on what it needs doing - and to hold me accountable to finish it to the best of my ability!
This is my favourite part of the dress! I love doing bias-binding, especially making it myself from a strip of leftover fabric. Because my 'undesigns' are spontaneous, intuitive, unplanned the edges are often rough, and so some lovely piping like this can help bring the form together somewhat.
The straps are mostly positioned now, sewn in at the back....
...and tacked in at the front, where there may end up being buttons or a tied closure. Any ideas? Please do let me know!
The front bib needs to be secured at the sides in an appropriate way; just now it's a tad lumpy ππ
But I do like very much the overall form of the dress. πͺ·π€π
The waistband is fully integrated now, with neat stitching and (mostly!) correct positioning... The green material came from some previously-gardening trousers, which still had some mud on themπ€ππ I promise to clean them, before putting them in the expo coming up next week!
And this is what I'm working on this coming week: the zip; a vintage one that'll require shortening - just doing the tricky work of pinning it in.. The expo is on Friday and Saturday night, and next weekend too, in Guardia Sanframondi, BN, Italia - at the Artemis Gallery π¨π«π₯³π I have yet to figure out the space, and how to hang everything.
Oh, and the length: the finishing of the bottom borders! This white edge might need to be lengthened, or else the green length will be shortened; I quite like it as a just-past-the-knee style πͺ·
I look forward to having an update from the opening of the expo, next week! In the meantime, blessings on your crafting and sewing, dear friends!
