Try to express your emotions
Some emotions are so easy to express; we laugh when we’re excited, we smile when we’re happy, and we celebrate our success with people around us. Sometimes this feeling doesn’t come out naturally; there are emotions we carry without knowing because we are afraid of being judged or misunderstood.
Someone like me, the hardest emotions for me to talk about are sadness and fear. These feelings often make us low on ourselves. You have this mindset that people will see us as weak people or incapable; instead of opening up, we hide behind the phrase "We wear an exciting face even when things are not moving well."
I know how painful disappointment can be when someone you trust so much lets you down or life doesn't move the way you planned it. Sometimes you just have to be mute because you don't want people to see you as a weak person or appear ungrateful.
Another emotion that people struggle to share is fear; most times it is not about the danger, but it can be fear of failure, danger, or rejection. The only solution is to build confidence and be strong and overcome the fear.
We need to open up to people. I know it is not easy to open up more, especially when we are hurt. The big truth is we need to trust someone. There must be that friend or family member that you can comfortably share how you are feeling with without the person judging you. The person will patiently listen to you, correct if need be, and encourage you. Time is also important; not everyone is ready to talk after a painful experience. Some people need time to heal.
Most times people appear happy on the outside while silently they are carrying heavy emotional burdens. Social media only shows the highlights of life, making life seem so easy and sweet that it leaves us with the impression that everyone is doing well or life is better. That is why most times people fail to believe that people are really suffering, making it hard to create genuine connections. At some point in our lives we need someone who can listen to us and talk to us.
Expressing our emotions is not a sign of weakness but rather is a sign of courage and confidence.
