Gold Cradle

I was cleaning out a part of the yard and deciding what to do with some scrap timber. So I thought I would finally get around to making a gold rocker cradle on a nice Saturday afternoon.

I have been prospecting and metal detecting at times in my past, and always wanted a gold cradle, just for the fun of using old time technology, there are better methods of gold extraction, but the cradle still has a purpose for prospecting in areas of some but low amounts of water where a sluice won’t be effective.

I washed some backyard dirt through the cradle and it seemed effective at letting the light stuff through but concentrating the heavier material.

Skit still needs a little more work but a fun project and found a use for the old timber as well.
