As always, I'm eager to participate in this initiative because I love all the ones in this community, and this one is no exception. I'll be very honest with you; I'm not going to say I'm a huge World Cup fan because I'm not. I probably would be if my country (Venezuela) were participating. Anyway, I remember that in previous years I was more of a regular at watching at least a few matches. Since my country wasn't participating, I always supported the closest countries: Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina. Let's just say those have always been my three favorites, but especially Brazil.
I remember many years ago Brazil won the World Cup and I was happy because even though it's not my country, it was my first choice to support. I think I didn't have my youngest daughter yet, and my oldest was very little. We both went to celebrate on the avenue near my house because all the neighbors were there with whistles, flags, and in the best mood. Many of them were heading north to celebrate with a big group party, and I asked my husband to take us, but he refused, saying it was dangerous because there were usually drunk and crazy people there. The thing is, at that moment we saw his brother-in-law's car drive by on the avenue, honking to get us to let him through, and I told my husband that his brother was probably going to celebrate at the party, but then we found out that he was actually going to the hospital in an emergency because his stepson, who was celebrating by playing a soccer game, had accidentally hit a neighbor with the ball. It made him stagger and fall, breaking his arm.
So yes, anything can happen at the World Cup, even though, as I mentioned, my country doesn't officially participate. I think football fever has died down a lot here in recent years, but there are still those who don't miss a single match. Personally, I only watch the ones where my favorite teams are playing, in this case, Brazil and Argentina.
As always, it was a pleasure for me to have participated in this initiative, and I encourage everyone to be a part of it. I send you many virtual kisses and hugs.
