Unquestionably, Russell Simmons was born in the year 1957 on October 4th. To clarify, he was born and raised in Queens, New York. He grew up alongside his two brothers, who were all raised by his mother and father.

Additionally, Simmons use to live an infamous life, but the problems that came with that lifestyle showed him there was a better way. By all means, Simmons made better decisions later in his life.

For instance, he enrolled in a college that was located in Harlem, New York. His major in college was in the field of sociology. Furthermore, in 1977 Simmons witnessed Eddie Cheeba rapping at a local club.

As a result, it inspired Russell Simmons to form his first company called Rush Management. He threw parties with a classmate named Curtis Walker. This was only the beginning.

In fact, he signed Walker under the stage name of Kurtis Blow. Making Kurtis one of the first artists under Rush Management. After countless forms of promotion Russell was able to get Kurtis Blow a record deal. By 1979 Kurtis Blow's song Christmas Rappin had sold over 500,000 copies.

Nevertheless, Russell Simmons inspires me because of his many achievements. To emphasize, he produced LL Cool J and Run-DMC. He helped improve the record label Def Jam, he cofounded the Def Comedy Jam, and launched a clothing business. That is to say, the list goes on.
