My First DIY Project: Building a Birdhouse

Over the last week weekend, I decided to take on a fun and rewarding DIY project: building a birdhouse. I've always loved watching birds, and having a birdhouse in my garden seemed like a great way to attract them. Here’s a step-by-step guide to how I did it, along with some insights and tips.
The first step was to gather all the necessary materials. I needed wood, I used cedar, which is durable and weather-resistant, screws and nails, a saw, hammer, and screwdriver, sandpaper, and paint or stain optional.

With all the pieces cut, I started assembling the birdhouse. I used a combination of screws and nails to put it together. It was a bit challenging at first, but I soon got the hang of it.
Once the birdhouse was assembled, I sanded down the edges to make sure there were no sharp points that could harm the birds. This step also gave the birdhouse a smoother, more finished look.
I decided to paint the birdhouse a red & white color. This step is optional, but it added a nice personal touch. I made sure to use paint that is safe for birds.
Finally, I added a small perch and a hook for hanging the birdhouse. I also drilled a few small holes at the bottom for drainage in case of rain.
