Keeping up with what we learnt last time, here's another beautiful learning session.

Today, we will be looking at Present Perfect Tense.

Present Perfect Tense

According to Collins' Dictionary, Present perfect tenses of a verb are used to talk about things which happened before the time you are speaking or writing but are relevant to the present situation,or things that began in the past and are still happening.

✅How to Use Present Perfect Tense

NOTE: When using the present perfect tense, HAS and HAVE are the main ingredients. And the moment a sentence has HAS or HAVE in it, the verb that follows will be in its past participle form.

✅This will lead us to PAST PARTICIPLES, before we proceed.

NOTE: Past participles can take various forms of verbs. Verbs that have -ed at the past and past participle levels are called REGULAR VERBS, while verbs that take other forms are called IRREGULAR VERBS.

For this lecture, we will make use of irregular verbs more, because that is where most people get it wrong.

1. Rise - Rose - Risen
2. See - Saw - Seen
3. Ride - Rode - Ridden
4. Ring - Rang - Rung
5. Shoot - Shot- Shot
6. Speak - Spoke -Spoken
7. Draw - Drew - Drawn
8. Begin -Began - Begun
9. Fall - Fell - Fallen
10. Come - Came - Come

Quick test:

Write out the past tense and past participle of the following verbs:

Sing, drink, beat,bite.
