Small Victories

An auspicious day came to showcase the exceptional talents, beauty and potentials of each student in our department. Last Friday, we had celebrated the highlights of our ACCESS Week. It was facilitated by the officers of an organization within our department, the Association of Concerned Computer Enthusiasts for a Strong Society, or ACCESS in short as we call it.

Weeks prior to this event, participants for ball games, board games, e-sports, and for the contests in Information and Communication Technology courses such as Web Designing, C++ and PHP programming, also Quiz Bees. Each of the sections in every class years have sent their participants, wherein dheannn@dheannn and me were one of them who competed. I have participated in the Web Design since I'm not yet confident with my programming skills in other programming language. I couldn't say that I'm in Web Page Designing either because I don't have an eye of an artist. I don't have much ideas for designing, in short, I'm not artistic enough but I know the basics, though.

Wearing my Departmental Shirt for that day, I'm over the moon in excitement for we our confident that Dhean could win for he has all the potential. We just have to give him a boost by giving all our support for him. But first, coffee, of course! The event will occupy our whole afternoon and I only have a limited social battery in me. I need a booster too, for a little extension.

There was a registration for attendance, stamping and gathering of tickets outside the Activity Center first before going in, so we queued outside. Thankfully, it didn't take that long because the sun was scorching hot that it hurts the skin when basking there for few minutes if you don't have an umbrella with you. When we got in, I somehow got lost. I thought we were still seated in the right area of the vicinity but turns out Second years were situated at the left side in that day. I turned back and headed at the other side of the vicinity immediately.

My classmates were laughing when I got there. They said that they were constantly waving at me, so I can notice them from afar but they said that I just looked at them cluelessly. Well, I apologize for I couldn't see at a farther range. I didn't wear my glasses haha.

Before the pageant for Mr. and Ms. ACCESS 2024 started, there was an awarding for the board games and one of my classmates got the Second Place. Also, there was a raffle which the control number who would be picked will receive Php 100. It wasn't much but it was a motivator for the students to stay until the end of the program because they were inserting the raffle in between of every segment.

However, I perfectly knew that I don't always have the luck to win any kinds of raffle, so I wasn't excited about it.

Thanks to Barryphotography for taking my photos up here when I was receiving my award.

I got the Third Place in Web Design Contest, that was too much for not having an artistic eye. I somehow wished to be in the Second Place at least, though. Since only a few have participated and it started late in the morning, not many can endure hunger while coding a website.

Only two of us, I think have a build a better framework. I didn't expect that my friend from other really finished his coding even though he was also hungry like because they said we will be starting early and we haven't eaten our breakfast just so we could be early on site. They showed up 30 minutes before the ending time, so who would be motivated to continue with that attitude of them. Anyway, I'm still grateful that I got this in behalf of all the discouragements I encountered during the contest prior.

And, Dhean winning the crown for the Mr. ACCESS 2024 was the highlight of the event. The vicinity were filled with loud uproars of students in any class years. He is a hardworking student-leader in our campus, that's why he is popular. Additionally, aside from popularity, he has the most potential to take home the crown for he stood out from the beginning until end and flawlessly answered the questions. His was a big time, mine was small, but a victory is a victory. It is supposed to be celebrated. So, congratulations to us, onto the next ventures of our lives.
