If I'm going to survive
If I'm going to grow
I must make an honest effort
To detach from this false construct
To spill my guts again and again to no avail
My data is sold to any bidder
I never wanted to completely remove myself from everyone else
But this false world has given me no choice
I am the one who cannot share responsibly
I cannot decide if I'm saving the world, shitting on it,
or divulging my deepest secrets
To acquaintances who are uninterested
I'm sorry if I didn't contact you
I'm sorry if this means cutting some of you out of my life
But my sanity is truly at stake
For I've never been a responsible user of social media
I spill my guts to the spy grid
And the truth is that the damage is already done
But if I am to again find solace
I must move away from this
I must move in a new direction
There most definitely is a huge upside to everyone being connected with a swipe or a tap
But are we truly living anymore?
Can you remember a time before all of this?
Before the mass facade
The fake smiles
The false successes?
No those were always there
They are now just broadcasted to the world
Within a millisecond
And this technology is remarkable
But it is also a demon
And our intended use of it
Is really but a byproduct
A secondary use at best
The true purpose of these things has been revealed
And though I hate to go
I must realize
That it was simply a dopamine-fueled feedback loop to begin with
A false construct
Robbing some of us of our souls
Don't get me wrong
Some can use you responsibly
I however cannot
I must go through with this this time
I must let you go
Along with the hundred friends
I haven't seen in a decade
