The Humble Pothos
As sunlight dapples its tender leaves,
The humble pothos creeps.
In the shade of the kitchen table,
It unfurls an inquisitive newborn leaf.
Crawling upon its belly,
Slithering upon its limb.
The curious pothos wanders,
Reaching for the beam.
Yonder goes the table leg,
There is the chair!
It sends out questing feelers,
Invoking Medusa’s hair.
As the sun turns upon the summer sky,
A curious child wonders aloud.
Why, oh why,
Does the pothos creep along the hall?
Silly child!
This house is its domain,
And we are merely its servants!
Enchanted thralls we shall remain!
This was inspired by a post by @simple.joys stating they grew to love roses and flowers as they got older. I’m the opposite, as I grow older I find more and more joy in the simple leaves of the pothos. And cacti - love those hardy things!
