Five Minute Freewrite: I'm Going To Push The Button

Jonas emerged as the flag bearer of his political party via a consensus arrangement. Other aspirants who stood down for him did so after heavy inducement and even threats. Jonas stood for the election and won. During his inauguration, the venue was filled with heavily armed securitymen but there were no skirmishes at the end of the day.

Few months after his assumption of office, a particular candidate - Mr. Stones who was promised cash and a juicy appointment so as to step down for Jonas was given nothing at the end of the day and all his efforts to get Jonas to fulfill his campaign promises to him proved abortive.

The next day, Mr. Stones sent Jonas a simple text message -

"I'm going to push the button of you fail to honour the gentleman's agreement you had with me".

As Jonas was sitting in his office recliner the text message landed on his cellphone. He opened, read it slowly and simply gave out a hearty laughter which even attracted those within and around him.

When he was done laughing he heaved a sigh of relief and dialed a few numbers on his phone and a fellow answered. It turned out to be the commissioner of police in his county. Jonas described Mr. Stones for him and requested that he be arrested immediately and locked up for threatening him with an sms.

As Mr. Stones was about to o leave his house the next morning a team of police officers stormed his residence with a warrant and got him arrested and whisked him away.

The next minute Jonas was informed of the arrest and his popped some champagne to celebrate the arrest.
