Modern Potential - an original poem

There is but a single force - to imagine. But do not inherit the structure of imagination from the disjointed world. Make contact with the echoes of sense.

Be heroic. Practical. Talk not in vague categories but in a way that is universal. Thus you can escape the episodic. You can overcome the defeatist feeling of exclusion.

You inherit your intensity. Your own jovial mind provides the intersection of the actual and the abstract. You are too an alliance between the forces of poetry and nature.

As a physician works upon a patient, you and your art do no harm. Design and vision are isolate flecks against the near totality of relativity.

"It is all for you," the old woman reaches out, "the improvised snapshot of our hints and guesses." Then the rocking chair is the only sound in the spring garden.
