SOLUTION TO 07/03/2025 MATH CHALLENGE
Hello everyone, welcome to another day of math challenge for 07/03/2025. Even though the question was quite challenging but I’m glad I could find a way around. Mathematics taught me that to every problem there is a solution. So giving up is not an option for me until I find a way to solve the problem at hand.
Having said that I will like to explain how I got my solution for the question for the day. From the question we were informed that there are 3 different types of trees present in a park, of which the total number is 42 trees and we are required to obtain the numbers for each of the trees present.

So, the first thing I did was to assume the number of the first type of tree (Oak) to be X. Since the number of the second type of tree (Pine) is doubled the Oak, that means that Pines will be 2 times the Oak (X) which we assume. Same thing is applied to the third type of trees (Birch).

After transforming the word problem to mathematical terms, the next thing I did was to put the terms together and solve using the mathematical approach needed in order to obtain the value for X. Then I got the value of X to be 9. Which implies that the number of Oak trees in the park is 9.

So, to further get the number of Pines and Birch trees I had to substitute the value of X into their respective terms for both pines and birch in order to get the values (number) of the pine trees and also the birch trees which gave me 18 and 15 respectively.
