A Sandwich Memory "Tomasan" / 思い出のサンドイッチ

Finally it gets warmer in Germany. Then I felt like making a sandwich my mother and I enjoyed eating. We called it "Tomasan", which is an abbreviation of tomato sandwich. Yes, we Japanese like to shorten words ... ;) (Convini for convenience store etc)

It is a simple sandwich with homemade mayonnaise, tomato, cucumber and salt and pepper. I don't make it during winter time since I feel as if my body is saying "it's too cold to eat it!" So it is a summer sandwich for me.

The other day, I made egg & cucumber sandwiches, which was also our favorite.

When I remember my mother, mostly it's related to food. Especially bread. She left me a nice memories.

ようやくドイツでも暖かくなってきました。暖かくなってくるとこのサンドイッチを食べたくなります。母と私がトマトサンドを略して「トマサン」という愛称で呼んでいたサンドイッチです。

パンをスライスして自家製マヨネーズとトマト、キュウリ、塩コショウで挟むだけのシンプルなものです。冬は体が「寒くて無理・・・」と言っているようで作りません。不思議と暑くなると体が「そろそろトマサンの季節では・・・」と無性に食べたくなります。

先日、卵とキュウリのサンドイッチを作りましたが、これも母と私の好物で、よくお弁当にも持たせてもらいました。これこれ。10年前にお弁当作りに燃えていたときに作ったものの写真です。このサンドイッチには名前はありません。

日々母のことを思い出すのですが、ほとんどの場合、食べ物の文脈なんですよね w 特にパン。母は私にすてきな思い出を残してくれました。そういえば祖母のこともよく食べ物で思い出します。
