Wars are not harmful for the environment.
I always had an idea in my mind that wars are harmful for the environment but now I am realizing that this is not true. Let me explain it:
Governments and other organizations constantly urge people to save the environment. To achieve this, they ban diesel cars, impose heavy penalties for cutting trees - even when you do it for meeting your urgent necessity. They compel citizens to buy ethanol-blended petrol and electric vehicles. They spend billions of taxpayers’ hard-earned money in the name of protecting the environment. Yet, when it comes to wars, they never hesitate to start them.
Armies deploy tanks and other heavy vehicles, consume thousands of gallons of fuel in fighter planes, bombard cities, destroy buildings, and burn forests. Somehow, none of these actions are ever considered harmful to the environment. If they were, no government would dare to initiate a war. This contradiction convinces me that the environment is treated differently by governments than by ordinary people. Ordinary citizens are blamed for harming it, while the rich and powerful are portrayed as its saviors. This is a bitter truth that must be acknowledged.
Thanks!
