How to be a rational person?

Greetings friends!

(AI generated image)

One’s devotion to religion is not inherently problematic. The issue arises when someone believes his/her religion is superior to all others. Such a mindset dismisses and disregards other faiths, which can foster division and ultimately lead to extremism. When a person insists that only their religion is pure, it often breeds hostility toward other religions and even toward atheists.

Interestingly, I have observed that people from different faiths, despite having differences in doctrines, often unite in opposition to atheism. They collectively resist atheists and rational thinkers. Isn’t that paradoxical?

Human beings have a natural tendency to defend their beliefs with vigor. They prefer to hear only what aligns with their worldview, a phenomenon known as confirmation bias. This bias can make people rigid and intellectually stagnant. As intelligent beings, we must guard against this trap. At least, we should listen to others’ perspectives with patience. Even if those views challenge or unsettle us, reflecting on them can sharpen our reasoning and help us grow into more rational and thoughtful individuals. Our goal should be to find out the truth, not to protect our dogmas.

Thanks!
