I Rented a House 5 Meters From a Cemetery. Would You?

10/10, Not Scary At All

I finally moved!
This is my new rented house. The first time I saw it, I fell in love right away.

The terrace is super wide, and the pillars are unique with stone-pattern ceramic tiles. I can already picture myself sitting here in the afternoon, having coffee + watching the kids play.

The road in front is still dirt, and my house is right at the end of the alley. During the day it's quite lively because there's a food stall next door, so it never feels too quiet. The rent is affordable, and the location is pretty good, If you judge it just from the front? Honestly 10/10. Cozy, shady, and nice to look at.

Backyard + Recycled Bottles

This is the backyard of the house. The land is so wide, right?
My plan is to make a mini garden here.

I’ve already prepared some used drinking water gallons to plant vegetables and kitchen herbs. It’s still bright outside, so I’m still brave enough to go to the back of the house...

The Cemetery - Shady Trees

Well... here’s my "neighbor"
It’s only 5-6 meters from my kitchen to this place. This is a public Muslim cemetery. During the day it’s actually peaceful. Shady, full of frangipani trees and a few big trees

The Path to the Cemetery

This is the path from the side of my house that leads straight there, during the day: It's fine, you can still hear chickens, the wind blowing, everything feels safe. At night: Nope, I wouldn’t even dare to look.

My imagination goes wild, scared of seeing a ghost sitting on the tree branches...
Or a ghost sitting on a grave.

Because Islamic ghosts come in so many types
If I ever saw one, I’d get goosebumps instantly, i might even pee my pants.

The Side Alley

This is the side alley of my house.
It’s quiet, the ground is still dirt, and sometimes chickens just walk by

I collect the trash here in sacks.
The garbage crew comes to pick it up every 2 days.

During the day it’s okay.
But at night? Let’s just say I prefer to throw the trash out in the morning.

Wooden House + Yard

The house next door is still really green and fresh, there are banana trees, and a wooden house too, it gives such a strong village vibe, i love it.

The only thing is... I decided my gardening activities will stop right after Maghrib
After that, it’s indoor time only

Backyard - Spacious and Peaceful

From here, the area looks so wide.
During the day it feels peaceful. Shady, cool, and full of big leafy trees.

At first I was surprised to be living this close to a cemetery, but over time I got used to it. Instead, it became a reminder for me:
Life is short. So we should use it for good things, for being grateful, and for the people we love.
