Updates (partially)
Even though I'm not feeling great yet, I didn't wanna waste more days barely doing anything since my Claude Sub is restarted now and the week's reset is approaching. In this post I'll be going through a few updates and why I chose to do them.
Abuse Reports
There is now a section on scrobble.life to report abuse.
In the past we've mainly only accepted reports through our discord, and that's been mostly focused towards things we may have rewarded. scrobble.life/report is going to be for more general posts, not only limited to things we've touched.
There are no rewards for this activity starting out. This has always felt like a thing we need to be careful with rewarding, however, we'll be logging reports and which ones get accepted/denied and acted upon and maybe later at some point in the future if we feel the activity deserves some rewards we may send some Hive their way.
This isn't meant for nitpicky reward adjustment or other form of disagreements. We have a system in place where if you're constantly reporting on things we decide not to pursue, then you'll be locked out from reporting any posts in the future. We just thought it'd be important to have a place to do so for the obvious things in case some other means of combating abuse cease to exist in the near future or due to how things are going currently.
Migration
There's been a lot of drama over Trakt closing down options for people using different apps connected to the service, making premium more expensive and forcing people to have it to use multiple connected apps. Although we're not too familiar with scrobbling apps ourselves, we thought it'd be a good idea to make migration easier for people looking for alternatives in this day and age where everyone's looking to milk users as much as they can.
We have also spent time creating a way to export your scrobble history so no new users need to even ask if that's a possibility or feel trapped. (If they're not aware that their scrobbles are stored on-chain if they're using a Hive account.)
Custom Rewards
All of our rewards we had in mind from the @scrobble beneficiary are now operating as expected. There's beneficiaries from the compilation posts going to nominations and voters (80-20) and half of the beneficiary rewards from the community are now going to be sent out weekly to users browsing Hive through scrobble.life. The last one is still experimental and we'll keep a good eye on it to make sure no abuse is taking place. We hope that the small sacrifice by your authors will lead to better engagement and consumption of their posts in the future as more people are made aware of the incentives that no other platform currently offers.
Some smaller things to mention in this post still:
- changed the order of some nodes as some have become less reliable
- hovercard on usernames for easy follow buttons and a little bit of info
- fixed a bug affecting usernames with dots where they could login but stayed logged out
- fixed a bug where emoji's in a post title weren't allowing nominators to nominate a post for curation
- comment embeds from reddit on scrobble.life/posh work now and embed the comment rather than the post
- replies now exist in /quicktakes, larger avatars and different ways to filter
More changes about scrobble.life, decentmemes.com and our next focus as we feel we've caught up pretty well on these two sites: holozing, in the next post.
