A Post to Remember
She sat on her various social media accounts, flicking between each tab, and scratching her head as it pulsated with dull unformed ideas and stories. What to tweet, what to post, which hashtags to use. Her fingers touched the keyboard and tapped the keys over and over, feigning typing as the thoughts bubbled to the surface of her mind.
Politics, jokes, life, cooking, writing. She wanted to craft her identity, the one she’d use to make it big. To become one of the stars of the internet. To buy her own home, to live her life with no boss and no master. It had to be good. No. It had to be perfect. Each word that fell onto the page eventually left as she erased it. Not good enough. Never good enough. After hours and hours of agonising over the content she would create, the sun set and the light in her office dimmed. She switched on her desk lamp and stared at the harsh blue light of her monitor.
‘Come on, Jessy. You can do it. Just write. Just do something!’
A bolt of energy electrified her fingertips. The words poured from her. This time they stuck to the page, each burning their sentiments into the word processor with a powerful permanence. An hour later and the pages and pages of content spoke for themselves. She had finished. Her first post.
