When the Elephants Fight, We Bleed

We live in an unfortunate and inhuman reality right now, an unfair system.
Everything reminds me of the saying, When the elephants fight the grass suffers. We all know the elephant fits very well for the description of our fat, bloated, greedy, corrupt leaders, and I say this from the bottom of my heart.

Because it is beginning to seem like these people aren't even human anymore. Because to be human, one must have empathy and see every other person as equally human.
But I doubt they see us as different from animals, that doesn't even matter.

It's so unfair that their decisions and actions end up affecting the citizens the most. We keep on suffering because of the decisions of our leaders. And the most painful part of it all, when it comes to a country like mine, my dear Nigeria, is that the so-called leaders weren't even chosen but got to make decisions through corruption and rigging of elections.
So we can't even say “we are suffering from the decisions made by our leader we chose” if it were so at least we would be able to take up more responsibility for the suffering.

I wish there were a way we could make these people answer for their actions. But the corruption is rooted so deeply that no way seems possible.
Did you know that most times when we hear about war and so many calamities, they are real, but they are orchestrated by the leaders? And while we see it as war and suffering they see it as simple decisions they made to make people suffer for their gains.

Even people who fight the wars are human and family members who lose their lives because leaders made a decision that took nothing from them.

These past days, I have seen on social media how the tension is being shifted to celebrities, pressuring them to use their large platforms to speak up against the actions of our leaders.
And while it might seem like these celebrities can use their voices to make a slight difference I genuinely think we are far past that stage.

We are in a stage where celebrities can only take us a step forward to a better country where leaders can be held accountable and the citizens don't have to suffer the consequences of the leaders' decisions.
Because no matter what, at the end of the day, the celebrities and citizens aren't the ones who would make the decisions. They don't even have a say in the decisions made by leaders. When you look at it, they are just like everyone, just that maybe their wealth softens the blow everyone gets.

Sometimes I actually laugh at the way celebrities get backlash because why? If a celebrity came out and told everyone what to do, how many people would actually listen? Instead, they would turn it into a war.

Just like the citizens, the celebrities can't make that huge change we are all looking for all by themselves.
I don't even know what it is, but it has to be something thunderous, ground-shaking like an earthquake, something that would cause a change that can not be hidden by propaganda and vices, maybe a miracle, lol.
