Voldemor is a fictional character from the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling. He is the main villain and Harry Potter's enemy. His real name is Tom Ryddle, but he changed it to Lord Voldemort using an anagram of his original name in English. He is a dark wizard who seeks immortality, absolute power and the purification of magical blood, killing non-pureblood wizards and muggles (non-magical people). To achieve his goals, he created an army of followers called Death Eaters, who blindly obey him. He also created seven horcruxes, objects that contain parts of his soul and allow him to survive death. Voldemort is considered the most powerful and feared dark wizard of all time, and many wizards refuse to say his name, calling him by nicknames like You-Know-Who or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. His physical appearance is very different from a normal human, as he has pale skin, red eyes, vertical pupils, a flat nose and long, thin fingers. His wand is made of yew and contains a phoenix feather, the same as Harry Potter's. Voldemort is the main antagonist of the seven Harry Potter novels and the eight movies based on them. He also appears in other media related to Rowling's magical world, such as video games, plays and theme parks. His character has been played by several actors, being the most famous Ralph Fiennes. Voldemort is one of the most famous and popular villains of literature and cinema, and has been compared to other evil characters like Darth Vader, Sauron or the Joker.
