Renovando la verja de casa

Hola queridos amigos de la comunidad!

Espero se encuentren muy bien, aquí en casa las cosas marchan de maravilla, el día de hoy les compartire el proyecto de carpintería de la semana, desde que volví a casa había notado que la pequeña pero pintoresca verja de la casa de mi madre estaba algo desvencijada y las maderas estaban deterioradas, así que me había propuesto mejorarla y cambiar algunas de las maderas para devolverle la vida.

I hope you’re all doing great. Things are going wonderfully here at home. Today I’m going to share this week’s woodworking project with you. Ever since I came home, I’d noticed that the small but charming gate at my mother’s house was a bit rickety and the wood was deteriorating, so I decided to fix it up and replace some of the wood to give it a new lease on life.

Lo primero fue conseguir la madera, para ello visitamos una buena amiga que tiene una carpintería y siempre tienen trozos de maderas de diferentes tamaños que son desechados y cuando llegamos entre una pila de trozos de madera encontramos justamente lo que necesitamos, largos listones de maderas bastante decentes para la nueva reja de la casa.

The first step was to get the wood. To do that, we visited a good friend who runs a carpentry shop; they always have scraps of wood in various sizes that they discard. When we arrived, we found exactly what we needed among a pile of wood scraps: long, decent-quality slats for the new fence around the house.

Luego medimos cada uno de los trozos de madera en la puerta de la verja, entrelazando los listones para crear un patrón de rombos, que solía tener antes, pero ya varias de las tablas se había caído por efectos del deterioro de los elementos, sobre todo de la lluvia que es abundante en este rinconsito del mundo. Luego en el resto de la verja colocamos cuatro listones horizontales.

Next, we measured each piece of wood against the gate, interlacing the slats to recreate the diamond pattern it used to have, but several of the boards had already fallen off due to weathering, especially from the rain, which is abundant in this little corner of the world. Then, on the rest of the gate, we installed four horizontal slats

Lo hicimos todo con mucho cuidado por supuesto de no dañar cada una de las plantas del jardin, en especial de la enredadera que está en el poste del lado derecho, donde debíamos posicionar algunos clavos de los barrotes horizontales, este ha sido el resultado final de este trabajo en familia de la nueva verja y me encantó, realmente renovó completamente el frente y cumplió mis totalmente mis expectativas, ahora debo aplicar una capa de barniz protector y decorar con algunas otras ideas que van surgiendo.

We took great care, of course, not to damage any of the plants in the garden, especially the vine growing on the post on the right side, where we had to hammer in some nails into the horizontal rails. This is the final result of our family project to build the new fence, and I love it— It really gave the front a complete makeover and fully met my expectations. Now I need to apply a coat of protective varnish and decorate it with a few other ideas that are coming to mind.
