How to care for a Weaning Kitten
If you've read my previous post you will know that we found an abandoned kitten thats only a couple days old.
I would like to share some tips in case anyone else find themselves in a similar situation:
If you cannot locate its mommy, try finding a cat that recently gave birth to adopt it! if you can't, try looking at your local vet or no-kill shelter!
Feed it formula cat milk once every 3hrs and keep it in a warm environment.
take a cloth and dampen with warm water and rub against its bum to simulate a mother cat licking her young, to encourage it to excrete.
Weaning kittens open their eyes at around 8 days old but do not fully develop their motor skills until 8 weeks!
8 WEEKS IS THE CRITICAL PERIOD IN A CATS LIFE!
DO NOT REMOVE KITTEN FROM MOTHER UNTIL THIS AGE!!!
