#Monomad Challenge - The Model

Here is my entry for the #monomad contest by @brumest and @monochromes.

We are all born. One life gave rise to another. But parenthood is not limited to the biological act of bringing a new being into the world. It is much more than that.

It is a universal phenomenon throughout much of the animal kingdom: parents give the very best they have so that their offspring have the best possible chance of living under the best possible conditions.

Not long ago, in another community where I enjoy posting at least once a week, I addressed a very sensitive and all-too-important topic by sharing a piece of street art: violence against children.

No society can evolve when it allows individuals to fail to provide the best conditions for children. And it gets even worse than that. Not only do they fail to provide the best conditions, but they also inflict harm on them through physical, psychological, or even emotional violence.

Children are truly the best part of a society.

And it’s fascinating to see how they look up to us adults as role models.

If we always kept in mind that a child who watches us act will likely imitate us—for better or for worse—we would be much more careful in our actions and in the choices we make throughout our lives.

We would become true role models as informed, responsible, caring, and loving parents, capable of giving our best so that the next generation will be better than ours.

In the photographs I took this past Sunday, I tried to capture moments of intimacy, closeness, and interaction between an adult or teenager and a child.

The fact that a child agrees to hold our hand should only make us feel even more responsible for never “letting go” of them, in one way or another.
