Late afternoons are one of my favorite subjects to photograph.

One of my favorite spots near my home, just a few minutes’ drive away, is Belém. It features Manueline-era architecture, fantastic gardens with a variety of trees and plants, as well as iconic fountains, such as the one I photographed here.

The geometric shapes contrast with the lightness and naturalness of the people strolling by and the seagulls that make the place a resting spot.
