Austin, TX Public Transit Rant

This is just going to be a quick rant. I don’t typically like to complain about real life but felt like letting loose here.

For the past two months or so, I’ve been getting randomly charged extra for bus rides I didn’t take or getting mischarged for the ones I did. Instead of solving the problem completely, after this time of getting the issue corrected, their customer service nicely told me to eat the extra expense or stop riding because it’s not their issue anymore; it’s happened too often now. I stopped driving over a decade ago because of health reasons and moved here because the transit used to be solid.

I can hike the 10 miles to and from work until I get a new bike but the bus was more convenient and much cheaper than Uber / Lyft ($25-$50 a day here for trip is no joke). I also have the option to buy and use a physical pass when needed but it’s still a hike to the nearest place (about 5 miles off route) to purchase one. It’s a bit infuriating but not the worst thing ever. Thanks for reading.
