How electricity works

Electricity is a flow of electrical energy, which is the flow of electrons through a conductor. When an electron moves from one point to another in a conductor, an electric current is produced. The basic process of producing electric current is the movement of electrons between atoms of matter.

There are many ways to produce electrical current, and one of the most common ways is to use generators. For example, in power plants, an electric generator uses rotating motion to convert electricity into electrical energy. This is done by moving a coil of wire in a magnetic field, which generates an electrical potential difference across the end terminals of the coil, thus generating an electric current.

When electrical current is produced, it can be directed and used for a variety of applications, such as powering household appliances, powering industrial equipment, generating light, operating machinery, and many other purposes.
