What You Do With Your Story Matters!
At the time of this writing, a woman's testimony would be considered unreliable. Yet time after time, throughout history, God uses a woman to bring forth His plans.
In this case, He used a woman who had been living a life of sin, quite openly! Instead of shaming her, He simply confronts her. He tells her everything she has ever done (in our language, calls her sin out and holds her accountable).
He also confronts her about the gospel.
So when she then goes to share her testimony, she can share the ugly parts of her story with joy and without shame because it leads to the heart of the gospel - that even though we all have fallen short, there is hope in the name of Jesus Christ.
He came to set us free from sin and shame!
The magnificent part is they were NOT saved because of HER story. Rather, it was her story which led them to meet Jesus, resulting in their belief and salvation.
Evangelism is never a waste of time. Sometimes, you may be met with hostility, anger, mocking...but what if your testimony is the reason someone meets Jesus and finds salvation?
Ironically, the verse of the day is the Bible app is, "He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into his fields.'" Matthew 9:37-38
No one is too far gone, too sinful, or too unimportant to share the gospel with. A lowly, outcast Samaritan woman was so impressed by Jesus that she sparked a revival in her town! The impact of her actions are still being felt in the Christian world today.
That's the very reason I write this post. It's because I know that whether someone who reads it today meets Jesus for the first time or someone who stumbles upon it months from now does, no effort to introduce people to who Jesus is a waste of time.
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and you call Him your Savior, my friend, you are the worker He is looking for. Both you and I! If a Samaritan woman can share a her testimony in a time where she risked her life for sharing it, you and I can certainly share ours!
