Burnt roti again... but hey at least it's food lol

so today's roti kinda got destroyed ngl. look at this thing half of it is basically charcoal at this point 😭
honestly this isn t even a one time thing. it happens like every other day here and i've just stopped being surprised by it at this point. idk if it's the stove being too hot or whoever's on cooking duty just not paying attention or maybe it's just how things go when youre cooking in bulk for a lot of people at once. probably a mix of all three tbh.
what's funny is the taste doesn't even change that much once you get past the burnt part. you just learn the technique pick off the black bits first, check underneath, and eat whatever's left. sounds weird if you've never had to do it but trust me after a few months it just becomes second nature. you dont even think about it anymore you just do it automatically.
i remember the first week i moved in i used to get kind of annoyed seeing this, like genuinely irritated over roti of all things lol. now i just laugh about it, take a pic, and eat it anyway. that's kind of the whole hostel experience i guess, you adjust to stuff you never thought you'd adjust to.
the wildest part is nobody around here even comments on it anymore. everyone just eats their burnt roti in silence like its completely normal, cuz at this point... it kind of is.
anyway sharing this cuz i know for a fact i'm not the only one who's seen a roti like this. if you've lived in a hostel or mess in pakistan you've probably had this exact moment at least once, maybe more
