Monday Musing

Happy Monday!
I'm happy because it's over, quite honestly. The workload usually slows down by February, but that was before the extra employer groups were added to our calls.
Not only are there more phone calls, but the type of callers has changed and some of these callers are self-important and impatient which adds to the stress of processing calls.

Each year things change. One constant in a call center is there are no constants. As companies morph and change to meet business needs and trim budgets, workloads shift. To continue working in the same company I've had to learn to adapt to the ever-changing role. The responsibilities remain the same, but the volume of work climbs. This seems to happen in all corporate businesses.

I am going through another period of contemplating applying for a different position within the company. I cycle through these feelings at least once a year. This past year I did a bit of mentoring. I enjoyed the experience and appreciate the opportunity to train.
I met some nice people and enjoyed getting to know these representatives. The new positions that I could apply for would likely isolate me. I work from home and have limited contact with other people. My current job gives me a measure of fellowship.

I guess I've talked myself into being content with my current job and I'm glad that I have a job. In the end, I will close these thoughts with the same thought that I opened this post.
