Prevention or creation?
“The Pirahas have no way of knowing that Westerners expect to live nearly as twice as long as they do. And we not only expect to live longer, we consider it our right to do so. Americans in particular lack the Pirahas stoicism… The pain and concern on their faces are as deep as any I have ever seen. But I have never seen a Piraha act as though the rest of the world had a duty to help him in his need or that it was necessary to suspend normal daily activities just because someone is sick or dying.”

The thought of someone else owing me something is not one I like or care to promote. We don't have to be so attached to this world of mirrors and its benefits. We don't have to consider survivle as our highest value. It's only a choice like everything else: to live in prevention or creation.
