Things are looking up.
This is a stand of trees in Oak Openings Metropark, part of the Lucas County Metropark system. Its the largest park in the system but also one of the least visited because of it's remote location. Its also one of my favorites. You can go on a hike during the day and see very few other people. The trails also have a lot of different options. There is a sand dunes trail, there is a prairie trail, there is a pine forest trail, there is a lakes trail and there is a meadow trail. Because of the lack of people this is a great park to see lots of wildlife.
The picture that I posted happened on a hike on the orange trail which heads through some clearings and past a Downy Woodpecker nesting area. These trees were planted at some point and I just happened to realize how great they looked when I looked up at the sky. I especially like the way the color of the sky pops compared to everything else.
I'd like to find out more of the history of Oak Openings. While doing some geocaching we found some trees that were obviously landscaping of a house that used to be there but the house isn't there anymore.
There is also a hiking trail that is painted as such that used to be a road, but I guess when they turned it into a park they closed the road and Incorporated that into the hiking trail.
I'm going to enter this into one of @juliank's photo contests.
