Knowing Indonesia from Performance of Sabang Merauke

Hi everyone... How was your weekend?

Let me introduce you about Indonesia through the performance.

Indonesia is rich in very diverse culture. Each region has a different culture. As an Indonesian I feel proud because every culture has its own uniqueness. To this day, I am still learning to get to know what cultures exist in Indonesia. Fortunately, this is very easy because many cultural activists hold performances to introduce Indonesian culture to both foreigners and Indonesians.

One of them is the Sabang Merauke performance. In last year they held the performance at Ciputra World Culture center in Kuningan, Jakarta. In this year they held the performance in PRJ Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Every year, before independence day, one of the Indonesian telecommunications companies named Iforte collaborates with Indonesian artists to hold performances in Sabang Merauke. Coincidentally my friend is an employee of Iforte, so she got a free ticket. My friend then invited me to join her. To awaken my nationalist feelings, I was happy to attend the performance with her.

This performance features a collaboration between Indonesian singers and dancers. In this performance, national songs, traditional dances mixed with modern (contemporary) traditional clothes, traditional games are displayed spectacular.

I enjoyed and amazed this performance cause all artist performed all out. Even though the performance is lasts for 2.5 hours, it was not boring. They were given us beautiful dances and songs, awaken my nationalist spirit.

According the title, this performance was displayed many cultures and tribe from Sabang (in Sumatera Island) to Merauke (in Papua island).

Besides the songs and dances, they were provided audience with territory jokes to impressed and make audience laugh.

In this performance, the main singer was personel of Cokelat Band, Kikan. She is vocalist on Cokelat Band. In this performances, she is stunning on the stage with her voice and made audience amazed. When she was sung a song entitled 'Merah Putih', audience get excited.

Even though I get the ticket for free, for me this performances is my expensive experience cause I can explore the tribes and cultures in Indonesia.

I wish I have same experience in every years cause by the crew they held the performances with another singers.
