US tariffs may slow down American AI development. Here is why.

Der US-Zollkrieg könnte auch negative Auswirkungen auf die amerikanische KI-Entwicklung haben. Das hat mehrere Ursachen.

Erstens geht gerade sehr viel Kapital und Zuversicht an den Börsen verloren, damit könnte einfach das notwendige Kapital für zukünftige KI-Startups und KI-Investitionen fehlen bzw. gedämpft werden.

Zweitens hat China nun auch Export-Kontrollen für Seltene Erden angekündigt, das könnte die Produktion von US-GPUs verlangsamen, vor allem wenn die USA langfristig die gesamte Produktion in die USA verlagern wollen, könnte ihnen einfach die notwendigen Ressourcen dazu fehlen.

Und Drittens hat Microsoft im Zuge des Zoll-Kriegs bereits angekündigt, Investitionen in KI-Datenzentren in den USA aufgrund der aktuellen wirtschaftlichen Aussicht herunterzufahren. Pläne für ganz große KI-Datenzentren stehen in der jetzigen wirtschaftlichen Lage auf dem Spiel.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Der Zoll-Krieg könnte noch erhebliche negative Sekundäreffekte für die USA bedeuten. China wird die KI-Entwicklung ganz bestimmt nicht verlangsamen.

The US tariff war could have a negative impact on American AI development. Here is why.

Firstly, a great deal of capital and confidence is currently being destroyed on the stock markets, which could simply mean that the necessary capital for future AI start-ups and AI investments will be lacking or dampened.

Secondly, China has now also announced export controls on rare earths, which could slow down the production of US GPUs, especially if the US wants to move all production to the US in the long term, it could simply lack the necessary resources to do so.

And thirdly, in the wake of the tariff war, Microsoft has already announced that it is scaling back investments in AI data centers in the US due to the current shaky economic outlook. Plans for very large AI data centers are at stake in the current economic situation.
