Should Hive be rebranded?

Kurz gesagt, der Name Hive ist in der englischen Sprache zu generisch und in den Suchmaschinen kaum auffindbar, und marketing-technisch daher nicht ideal.

Sucht man nach Hive findet man Apache Hive, Hive Digital, The Hive, aber alles andere als unsere soziale Blockchain. Das ist frustrierend, und hemmt laut demotruk unser Wachstum.

Denke es liegt nicht nur am Namen, wir haben wichtigere Probleme wie die zu hohe Inflation (HBD, HBD-Schulden, Algo-Stablecoin, DAO Fund/Proposals und HBD-Zinsen) und eben das Marketing, das wir verbessern müssen.

Aber ein Rebrand mit einem guten Namen würde neuen Schwung in das Projekt bringen, verursacht aber auch Kosten. Marketing-technisch müssten wir wieder von vorne anfangen und jedes Rebrand ist aufwendig, vor allem am Anfang. Einen besseren Namen zu finden auch nicht so einfach.

Denke Hive benötigt vor allem Marketing, um in Suchmaschinen sichtbarer zu werden. Marketing-Investitionen außerhalb der Krypto und Internet-Sphäre, wie Bohrlöcher in Afrika oder Racing-Cars zu sponsern, sind dafür meiner Meinung nach wenig hilfreich. Marketing muss zielgruppen-gerichtet sein und das richtige Medium nutzen.

@demotruk has written a series of posts and drafted a proposal explaining why we should rebrand Hive.

In short, the name “Hive” is too generic in English and is hard to find in search engines, making it less than ideal from a marketing perspective.

If you search for “Hive,” you'll find Apache Hive, Hive Digital, and The Hive, but nothing related to our social blockchain. This is frustrating, and according to demotruk, it’s holding back our growth.

I don’t think it’s just about the name though, we have more pressing issues like inflation (HBD, HBD debt, the algorithmic stablecoin, DAO proposals, and HBD interest rates) and lack of marketing that we need to fix first.

But a rebrand with a good name would bring new momentum to the project, though it also comes with a cost. From a marketing perspective, we’d have to start from scratch, and every rebrand is costly, especially at the beginning. Finding a better name isn’t that easy either.

I think Hive needs marketing above all else to become more visible in search engines. Marketing investments outside the crypto and internet sphere, such as sponsoring water wells in Africa or race cars, are, in my opinion, not very helpful for this. Marketing must be targeted and use the right medium.
