God's Window -

Every time we visit Mpumalanga, South Africa, we go to one of our favorite places – God’s Window. It’s just such a testament to the Lowveld’s beauty. It’s situated on the Drakensberg escarpment. When you climb to the top and look down into the forest clad ravine, you’ll begin to understand why it’s called “God’s Window”.

(This photo is from the SA Venues website: www.sa-venues.com/attractionsmpl/gods-window.htm - I borrowed it because my little smartphone could not do the view justice.)

The rest of the photos was taken by me with a smartphone on a cloudy and misty day. I’m no professional photographer and know the overexposure on the photos are a little crazy but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

The climb up is a little steep but well worth it! You can stop and rest on outlook points on the way up.

There is wild aloe growing everywhere!

It’s not just green everywhere, look closely among the aloes and bushes and you’ll find all sorts of other types of vegetation.

Mpumalanga has mild winters and a subtropical climate.

I hope you enjoyed this little trip with me to one of my favourite spots in South Africa. I actually have a few cool places that I will share soon.
