I have this little problem... ๐
I have this problem, the issue in question is this guy ๐
Quite some time ago, possibly 2022 we got this cheap little fish tank. Someone in the household put forth the idea that a fish tank in the hall would be a great idea. I failed at the time to shoot the suggestion down, even though I knew I would probably end up being the person that would have to look after it, and obviously the fish within.
In order to rein things in a bit, made sure to purchase a cheap budget tank offering an stick to smaller fish with no tropical (heated) dependency.
Fast forward 4 years and everything I said would come to pass happened. The fish tank is still in the hall, it's looking a little worse for wear, I've been the only one near it and we are on our second batch of guppies.
The fish set of 3x guppies lasted quite some time easily 18 months plus, the second set of 3x the first 2 fish went inside 12 months but the last guy, he is somehow still standing, and still kicking. He has been on his own now for an age. I was working under the assumption that those little fish were somehow shoal orientated and therefore wouldn't last very long on their own but this final little guy has tore up the script!
So here's the Moral Dilemma..
I want to get rid of the fish tank, I want to upgrade to a much bigger tank and have some larger fish that are more visually appealing as I have spent the time learning how to look after and properly care for pet fish in general.
This little 'survivor' ๐ is a problem for me. He will have no place in the new tank.
Against all odds he has survived, all on his on his own for an age.. and because of that I can't in good conscience get rid of him.
Day after day I am coming downstairs in the morning and checking the tank to find this little guy staring straight back at me, for months this has been going on, he has far exceeded his natural lifespan, and I'm starting to feel like his existence is taunting me, or perhaps the almighty trying is trying to teach me a lesson.
So I'm taking it on the chin. I've decided to wait until the last guppie pops his clog's before I do anything with a new replacement tank. Never thought I'd be that worried about a tiny little fish but the level of belligerence he has shown in refusal so far to die of his own accord has inspired me to grow some patience and wait!
Funny old world isn't it :)
