The Weight of a Divine Legacy: Project Scard (Review)

Hello, my dearest anime community! I hope you're all doing well. It's a pleasure to be back sharing anime with you all here. I've been quite busy with university and work, but I'm finally back in my beloved community. This time, I'm bringing you an anime that isn't very well-known; I haven't seen anyone talking about it. I think the fandom only has three people, and that's a lot, haha. However, everything about the plot and animation is excellent. That's right, I'm talking about "Project Scard: Praeter no Kizu." Espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, para mí es un placer volver a compartir anime con ustedes en este espacio, he estado bastante ocupada con las cosas de la universidad y el trabajo, pero ya he regresado a mi querida comunidad. En esta ocasión, les traigo un anime que no es muy conocido; no he visto a nadie hablando de él; Creo que el fandom tiene tres personas, y eso es mucho xd, sin embargo, todo lo relacionado con la trama y la animación es excelente. In a dystopian, conflict-ridden Tokyo, specifically in the Akatsuki district, abandoned by special forces, the Divine Tattoos and the Scard emerge. These forces arise to maintain order within the district, which has collapsed under the weight of crime and insecurity, protecting those who remain. The Scard organization predominates, comprised of individuals trained to wield the power of the Divine Tattoos. These tattoos grant them the strength of mythological creatures, bestowing upon them special abilities such as deflecting bullets and withstanding high-impact physical attacks. This is where our protagonist, Yamoto Kai, enters the picture. A young man who selflessly helps others and possesses no superpowers himself, he admires one of the leading Scard, Eiji Sakashima.

En un Tokio distópico y lleno de conflictos, específicamente en el distrito Akatsuki, el cual ha sido abandonado por las fuerzas especiales, nacen los tatuajes divinos y los Scard, son fuerzas que han surgido para mantener el orden dentro del distrito, ya que este colapsó por el crimen y las inseguridades, de esta forma, ellos pueden proteger a las personas que aún permanecen allí. En este contexto, predomina la organización de los Scard, personas entrenadas para portar el poder de los tatuajes divinos, los cuales poseen la fuerza de criaturas mitológicas que les otorgan habilidades especiales, como desviar balas y resistir ataques físicos de gran impacto, entre otras cosas. Aquí es donde entra nuestro héroe principal, Yamoto Kai, un joven que ayuda a las personas desinteresadamente y que no tiene poderes, el admira a uno de los Scard principales, Eiji Sakashima.

In one of the battles, Eiji, while protecting Kai, is mortally wounded. Before dying, he decides to bequeath his divine tattoos to Kai, transforming him into a Scard. From that moment on, Kai's mission is to protect the district and learn to use his newfound powers. However, this is where the situation becomes complicated, as he must face three enemies. Among them are Eiji's former comrades, the other Cards, whose trust he must earn and prove himself worthy of being their successor. Furthermore, he must fight against a private organization that only seeks its own gain, and, to make matters worse, he also has to confront a militarized government organization that is attempting to illegally regain control of the district.

En una de las batallas, Eiji, al proteger a Kai, resulta herido de muerte, antes de fallecer decide dejarle sus tatuajes divinos a Kai, convirtiéndolo en un Scard. A partir de ese momento, la misión de Kai es proteger el distrito y aprender a utilizar sus nuevos poderes, no obstante,es aquí donde la situación se complica, ya que debe enfrentarse a tres enemigos. Entre ellos se encuentran los antiguos compañeros de Eiji, los otros cards, de quienes debe ganarse la confianza y demostrar que es digno de ser su sucesor. Además, debe luchar contra una asociación privada que solo busca sus propios beneficios y, por si fuera poco, también tiene que enfrentarse a una asociación militarizada del gobierno que intenta retomar el control del distrito de manera indebida.

This series was produced in 2021 and premiered in January of that year. It was developed by Frontier Works, with animation by GoHands. The main director, who also designed all the characters, was Shingo Suzuki. It consists of a single season of 13 episodes, but each episode is filler-free. I must admit that at first it reminded me of an anime from the 2000s, but the work is very well done. I love the animation, and the plot, although it might seem somewhat monotonous, is unlike anything I've seen before. I highly recommend this anime, not only for the plot and animation, but also for the effort put into well-developed characters. As you progress through each episode, you realize the depth of each one.

Esta serie fue producida en el año 2021 y lanzada al aire en enero de ese mismo año. La compañía que la desarrolló fue Frontier Works, mientras que el estudio GoHands se encargó de la animación. El director principal, quien también se ocupó del diseño de todos los personajes, fue Shingo Suzuki. Consta de una sola temporada de 13 capítulos, pero cada episodio está libre de relleno. Debo admitir que al principio me pareció similar a un anime de los años 2000, pero el trabajo está muy bien realizado. La animación me encanta y la trama, aunque pueda parecer algo monótona, no se asemeja a nada que haya visto anteriormente. Recomiendo mucho este anime, no solo por la trama o la animación, sino por el esfuerzo que implica una buena elaboración de personajes, ya que, a medida que avanzas capítulo a capítulo, te das cuenta de la profundidad de cada uno de ellos.
