Contradictions & Compartmentalization
When somebody is faced with a logical contradiction between two overtly contradictory beliefs, they typically have cognitive dissonance, which is upheld by psychological compartmentalization. This is where various compartments within a person's psyche house an identity for each belief structure they hold; therefore the various identities, and the beliefs they hold dear, remain unconscious of each other, and remain unconscious to the individual holding them. Think of it as a computer running several virtual computers on it, where each virtual computer isn't networked and is unaware of the other instances of virtual computing running next to it. Compartmentalization is good for business, as it helps dissonant individuals to remain unconscious of the obvious contradictions they're upholding, and makes them easy to manipulate from external influences.
