This plant is called Ficus elastica also known as the rubber fig, rubber plant, rubber tree or Indian rubber bush which is a species of plant in the fig genus, native to eastern parts of South Asia & southeast Asia.
It has eventually become naturalized in Sri Lanka, the West Indies & the Florida of US State.
The Rubber plants have a cool natural defense system against airborne bacteria & mold.
These contaminants like to breed & also grow in dirty places, like plant soil & rubber shrubs have adapted to remove these things from the air & soil which destroy them in the process of making very useful chemicals for the plant.
