I Am Just as Surprised as the Last Opponent Was
I don’t play games like Fortnite with intent of winning. I play for fun, and to collect enough clips for dad joke videos on YouTube. My goal is to have fun along the way as well. Winning is “meh” to me. People are too focused on winning and if they lose, they let that fact ruin their fun for the rest of the day. I try to not be that way. That is why it is a surprise when I do win a match. Especially in Season 2 of Chapter 7 where scoped weapons are so hard to come by anymore.
Movement Is a Problem
If you are a long time player of Fortnite then you probably already know that movement in Season 2 of Chapter 7 is rough. Gone is the flight suit. Cars seem to run out of gas even faster. This leaves one main form of movement outside of finding jump pads around the map. The zip line.
On one hand, the zip line is great because you can deploy it anywhere. It sucks because it is fairly rare itself this season.
This leaves running and sliding to get around the map. Not exactly a quick method.
Still, I was able to make use of the zip line to get around and to help take the win in this round so I cannot complain too much.
Space Is Another Problem of Fortnite
It seems each season we get more and more space to run around in but players are not focused as quickly as they could be. This leaves us running around and trying to find opponents more often than actually fighting each other. This hurts the fun in my opinion.
This match was nothing new in this regard. I spent a good minute or so at the end trying to even get a sight on my opponent. There was just so much space available, I took an educated guess where he would end up, and luckily, they were there. But, the sheer amount of space they could have been in was staggering, and confusing, forcing me to decide to camp or run.
All in all, this match was fun for what passes as fun in Chapter 6 and 7. It is apparently the direction we are going with Fortnite so we either deal with it or quit playing. I am still enjoying the game so I will continue playing, but it will be diminished going forward due to problems laid out above.
