Drilling fluid formulations

It has been a while since I've been active on the Hive blockchain, because I have been busy attending drilling fluid training school which left me little or no time to be active on the block chain, i have also been on the lab trying to prepare Spud mud, which is the most common type of drilling fluid, it is majorly water base as 70% of the base fluid is water while 30% is made pump of chemical and weighting agent.

Today with the increasing environmental concern use of oil-based mode is either prohibited for several restricted in many areas since is contaminated the underground water if not properly managed, so the need for using a water base mud to drill through water table is the best method for drilling a crude oil well.

On the picture above we where currently preparing water-based mud using bentonite as our weighing agent and water as our base fluid, we added caustic soda and soda ash to the mixture also to treat the water for hardness in case there is high calcium content on the water that might react with our bentonite and causes it not to yield properly. The fomular is shared for 30 mins and allowed to yield for 24hrs.

Drilling fluids is the life line of all drilling operations as without it no petroleum and gas drilling operation would be possible.
