DnW Poetry Contest #4: She Smiled
Hi everyone! This my entry to 
You may not understand the poem but I will provide an explanation after.
WARNING:
This poem is not good, AT ALL. But I promised
She Smiled

Her chances of passing were slim, but still, she smiled.
Her parents’ faces were grim, but still, she smiled.
She’s unsure if she’ll make it, but still, she smiled.
She was not ready to do it, but still, she smiled.

Every fiber in her protested, but still, she smiled.
She was not even comforted, but still, she smiled.
She was worried for her sister, but still, she smiled.
They're nervous for each other, but still, they smiled.
~
The bride selection has come, but still, she smiled.
For her it was burdensome, but still, she smiled.
Her sister was not chosen as bride, but still she smiled.
Her sister had mournfully cried, but still, she smiled.

She advanced to the final round, but still she smiled.
They said the bride has been found, she still, has smiled.
But when they said it was her, she lost her smile.
For she knew the prince don’t love her, at last, she cried.

Lame. Hahahaha. Anyway, the explanation.
- The setting is in Korea, Joseon dynasty.
- The character is a girl from a noble family.
- When the process to choose a crown princess was announced, all teenage girls from noble families were forbidden to marry during the listing period.
- A total of 30 candidates were selected from the list, who then faced three strict steps before having the chance to be named the final crown princess.
- The chosen princess will live in the palace for the rest of her life.
- There will be no "marrying for love" for the princess, unless if the prince likes her, or vise versa.
