Let’s get sloppy with @tomber!🍔

Today i’m making a snack for my little boys, and for me also of course. A famous snack in the States called
Sloppy Joe’s.

A “Sloppy Joe” is a sandwich with a kind of Bolognese sauce on it. Sloppy Joe’s were made the first time in 1930 in Sioux City by a cook named Joe, who added loose meat to his sandwiches. It really got famous in the Sloppy Joe’s bar in Key West, the hangout of Ernest Hemmingway.

(Back in the days 👍 Key West)

So we start with chopping our ingredients. 1 medium size onion.

2 cloves of garlic,

1 green bell pepper,

i also add a red big sweet pepper. I know in the original recipe there is only green pepper but i like some colour and i’m in Spain(the big red peppers are delicious here) so...

Then 1 kilo of ground beef.

So i start with frying my onions, garlic and peppers.

Then i add my beef,

and then the most important ingredient. Ketchup!

So when baking your beef, add ketchup and don’t be to modest. Don’t forget salt and pepper of course.👌

Then some mustard and Worchester sauce(not too much).

Add a cup of water and let it simmer for half an hour.

I also add a little yeast extract for extra flavour and some tomato pasata because i don’t like it too sweet. Also not in the original recipe...

A little brown sugar, not too much!

I like it spicy so i add some spicy guindillas or pepperoni peppers.

Then let it simmer for 10 minutes more until most of the water is gone and it’s getting solid.

Then buns in the oven...

Put your sloppy Joe sauce on them,

I add some crunchy onions and jalapeño to get it some bite and spice.
Also add some potatoe chips, my boys especially love that. Chips for dinner.😂

And just enjoy your Sloppy friend!

Keep it juicy, euhhh sloppy!!!

Cheers
